Allah Almighty conveyed His commandments to humanity in the form of the Glorious Qur'an through the last Holy Prophet, Muhammad ﷺ. Allah entrusted the task of elucidating and explaining His Book to the Prophet ﷺ, making the explanations and interpretations given by the Prophet a fundamental aspect of the religion. The Companions رضی اللہ عنھم directly benefited from the Prophetic knowledge and wisdom, and they performed the unparalleled task of preserving and transmitting the fundamentals of the religion. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ personally undertook the jurisprudential training of the Companions. He taught them to understand and reflect on the Qur'anic texts and had them practice this practically so they would gain complete expertise in deriving rulings and understanding the religion. This training enabled them to issue judgments on emerging issues and new occurrences. One of the methods employed for the Companions' jurisprudential training was assigning them the responsibility of making decisions in various matters so that they could gain deep insight through practical experience in decision-making. This article, titled "Jurisprudential Training of the Companions during the Prophetic Era: A Research Study," examines the jurisprudential insight of the Companions رضی اللہ عنھم.
