This paper explores the contemporary relevance and application of the teachings of the Naqshbandī Sufi masters during the Ālamgīrī era, a period that witnessed significant religious and spiritual renewal in the Indian subcontinent. The completion of Islam as a perfect religion occurred with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and it remains the ultimate path to success until the Day of Judgment. However, as Islam expanded beyond the Arabian Peninsula, each subsequent era proved more challenging in terms of maintaining the purity of faith and practices. To counter the growing challenges, Allah Almighty sent exemplary individuals in every age to guide people towards the straight path. Among the notable periods of Islamic revival is the era of Aurangzeb Ālamgīr, which saw the resurgence of orthodox Islam and the eradication of the harmful influences of Akbar’s heterodox policies. The widespread propagation of Islam during Aurangzeb's reign is largely attributed to the tireless efforts of the Naqshbandī Sufi masters, who brought about a spiritual revolution in India. This paper introduces key Naqshbandī figures of the Ālamgīrī era and examines the potential ways in which their teachings can be applied in the contemporary context to address modern challenges.
