Abstract

This article intends to elaborate the duties and responsibilities of government officials in the light of Islamic Shariah. Islam is a religion that has assigned the duties and responsibilities of every individual whether he is common or special, rich or poor, master or slave, ruler or subordinate in detail. Moreover, the responsibilities of each individual have been thoroughly described.  In this paper, the rights and duties of the office bearers have been reviewed and the basic responsibilities of the office bearers have been determined in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah and the manifestations of the Rashidun Caliphate. In this regard, it has been stated that what is the responsibility of the officials regarding the provision of basic facilities to laymen of the country? What is their role regarding the spread of Islam? And what should be their behavior to the welfare of the people? What facilities and privileges do they have?  Do they have any special status compared to common subjects or do they have the same position as a common person?  These issues are discussed in this paper in detail.
