Abstract

This research paper presents a comprehensive analytical study on the decline of the sanctity of chadar and char diwari (veil and domestic privacy) in Pakistani society, explored through moral, legal, psychological, and educational dimensions of Islam. Grounded in Quranic injunctions, Prophetic traditions, and classical Islamic jurisprudence, the paper establishes that chadar o char diwari is a divinely inspired social framework designed to preserve human dignity, family integrity, and communal morality. It argues that Islamic society, founded upon modesty (haya), justice (adl), and respect for womens honor, faces a moral crisis as these values erode in modern Pakistan due to media liberalism, economic strain, and social imitation of Western culture. The weakening of traditional family structures, absence of moral education, and ineffective legal implementation have accelerated the deterioration of social privacy and domestic respect. Through a comparative lens, the study evaluates the harmony between Islamic principles and modern sociological theories, emphasizing that Islam not only promotes spiritual discipline and emotional balance but also protects personal and collective boundaries. The research highlights that the preservation of chadar o char diwari is essential for ensuring societal peace and gender dignity. Furthermore, it proposes a multidimensional strategy involving ethical education, religious awareness, media accountability, and legal reform for the restoration of Islamic moral order. It concludes that reviving the sanctity of chadar o char diwari is not merely a cultural necessity but a religious obligation vital for rebuilding the moral, familial, and spiritual fabric of Pakistani society in alignment with the principles of Islam.
